The Brief: Planning Around Real Life
This 1,800 sft residence interior design project in Rampura, Dhaka was planned around the way the family lives every day.
Mr. Manzur-E-Khuda Rousseau wanted a home that felt personal, clean, and adaptable. Instead of starting with decorative centerpieces, we studied their routines. The apartment needed family connection, better privacy, a quiet work area, seamless storage, and small corners shaped around individual habits.
Before shaping the layout, we mapped daily movement, privacy needs, work-from-home use, and storage pressure points. This helped us design spaces that would stay useful after handover, not spaces that only looked good in photos.

This model gave the homeowner stronger financial control without losing design guidance. The client’s father is an early riser and an avid reader. Instead of placing a generic armchair in a leftover corner, we planned a dedicated reading space beside his custom bookshelf, where morning light could support his daily reading routine.
It was not planned as a decorative corner. It became an active, functional part of daily life.
The Private Home Office and Flexible Zoning
Because the client often works from home, a standard study desk was not enough. We designed a home office area that can shift from an open, connected part of the house to a more private meeting zone when needed.
To achieve this flexible zoning, we used a wooden-frame glass folding door. It keeps the detail warm and residential, while the glass helps the home office stay visually connected to the apartment. During normal family hours, the layout can stay open and airy. During calls or online meetings, the folding door helps create better privacy without making the space feel visually cramped.
The Rain-Watching Nook
The client’s wife wanted a quiet place beside the window where she could sit and enjoy the rain. We integrated a comfortable seating moment beside her dressing area. By placing it near a space she already uses daily, the nook became part of her routine instead of becoming unused floor space.
Functional Wall Cabinet Designs
In Dhaka apartments, storage has a direct impact on how calm or cluttered a home feels. Poor cabinet planning leads to wasted corners, blocked light, and daily clutter.
- In the reading corner, the shelving acts as both a feature wall and practical book storage.
