Interior design cost in Bangladesh depends on three things: the work you need, the area being measured and the specification. This guide covers homes: what each published number includes, how to turn a rate into a budget for your flat, and how to compare two quotes fairly. The short answer: interior design cost per sft in 2026
Dhaka homes: BDT 1,500 to 3,000 per sft, design and execution together. Minimal, Standard and Exclusive levels sit inside that range.
These are Studio Archifiction’s published references, not a national price survey. A quotation should state its date, location, area basis, included work, exclusions and tax treatment.
Start with the right price basis
Most budget confusion comes from comparing rates that measure different things. Check the basis first.

Use the three levels to describe the scope you want. Then price the actual BOQ.
These bands are typical, not fixed packages. The final price comes from the BOQ for your actual plan, rooms and finishes.
Low cost interior design: where to save, and where not to
Low cost interior design in Bangladesh works when priorities are clear. Keep useful existing furniture, reduce decorative ceilings and phase the non-essential work. Ask what has been removed from a lower quote. A saving only helps if the remaining scope still solves the household’s needs.
Electrical safety, moisture control, working clearances and service access. They are cheap to get right during the work and expensive to fix after you move in.

A worked example: a 1,400 sft flat
As a simple calculation, a 1,400 sft flat multiplied by BDT 1,500 to 3,000 gives BDT 21 to 42 lakh. At the Standard level of BDT 2,000 to 2,500, the same flat gives BDT 28 to 35 lakh. Kitchen cabinets: check the unit before the rate
Kitchen cabinets can be a large part of a home budget. Our published cabinet rates vary with board and finish, and they are not rates for kitchen floor area. Ask whether a quotation measures cabinet faces, elevations or another stated basis. Confirm hardware and installation, and check the burner, hood, countertop, sink and other exclusions. What a fair quote should show
Ask for an itemised bill of quantities, or BOQ. Then check that it shows:
- Each item’s quantity, unit, specification and price.
- Board thickness, finish and hardware.
- The lighting scope.
- Supervision and handover responsibilities.
- Exclusions and variation terms.
- Payment stages.
Compare quotes against the same drawings and specification. A headline rate alone cannot show which offer gives better value.
Does interior cost change outside Dhaka?
Yes, it can. Local procurement, transport, labour, accommodation, supervision and access all move the final price. Do not treat the Dhaka benchmarks above as confirmed rates for every district. For a project elsewhere in Bangladesh, agree the site-visit arrangement and logistics before comparing proposals, and check material availability and delivery time for that location.

Questions clients ask
How much is a design-only fee?
Our published design and documentation fee is BDT 50 to 80 per sft, rising to BDT 100 per sft for a detailed or complex interior scope. The written proposal states the measured area, drawing list, revision allowance and whether BOQ preparation or site supervision is included.
What is the interior design cost for a 1,200 sft flat in Dhaka?
Multiplying 1,200 sft by our published home range of BDT 1,500 to 3,000 per sft gives about BDT 18 to 36 lakh for design and execution together. At the Standard level, BDT 2,000 to 2,500 per sft, it comes to about BDT 24 to 30 lakh. Treat these as planning figures. The BOQ for your rooms and finishes sets the actual price.
Is design included in a turnkey rate?
Read the quotation. Our published home range combines design and execution for its agreed scope. The word turnkey does not guarantee the same inclusions in every proposal, so ask for the design fee, the execution scope and the exclusions to be stated clearly.
Why do two quotes for the same flat differ?
They may use different quantities, materials, hardware or exclusions. One may include kitchen work, lighting and supervision while another does not. Give both firms the same drawings and compare BOQ items line by line. Also check payment stages, variation approval and handover obligations before deciding which proposal offers better value.
Is the lowest price always the best value?
No. First check whether both prices solve the same brief. A smaller, well-defined scope can be sensible, while a cheap headline rate with essential work missing leads to later additions. Ask what is included, what can be phased and what must be finished before you move in.
