They were small dimensional corrections, each one reasonable on its own.
The real cause was that the person approving the drawings was not the only person deciding. Approval came from one family member, the decision was revisited with another, and the design moved again. How early design actually saves money
Strategy 1: build during construction
Custom wardrobes, kitchen cabinetry and TV units built during construction cost less than buying comparable readymade furniture after handover. How much less depends on material grade and how much joinery the flat needs, so we will not put a percentage on it until we have seen your plan. The reasons the gap exists are consistent: lower labour cost while the site is already active, bulk material coordination, and installation without rework. You also get pieces sized to your walls instead of pieces your walls have to accommodate. This applies whether you’re designing a modern flat or planning something larger, like the stair in a duplex house, where structural work is always cheaper during construction.
Strategy 2: phase your spending
During construction: Finalize false ceilings, electrical routing, tiling, and plumbing, which is the structural work.
After handover: Add lighting, décor, and movable furniture.
This spreads costs naturally and keeps your budget manageable.
Strategy 3: value engineering
