Interior design in Bangladesh is a crowded market, and the lists that come up first rarely explain how they were built. Most people searching for an interior design company in Bangladesh are about to spend somewhere between a few lakh and a few crore taka on a home interior with a firm they have never worked with, and almost none of the lists they read tell them what to check.
This guide takes the opposite approach. The criteria come first, the firms come second, and the last section is a set of questions you can put to any firm on any list.

How to judge an interior design company in Bangladesh
Six things separate a firm that will finish your project cleanly from one that will not. Attractive 3D views are not on the list, because every firm has them now.
- Who actually designs. Ask whether a registered architect or a qualified interior designer leads the work, or whether the design comes from a draftsman working to a salesperson’s brief. This single question predicts more about your outcome than portfolio size does.
- Drawings, not just images. A 3D render is a sales tool. Working drawings, furniture details, electrical layouts and a ceiling plan are what the carpenter and electrician actually build from. Ask to see a real drawing set from a completed project.
- A BOQ, not a lump sum. A bill of quantities is the only document that lets you compare two firms honestly, control a change mid-project, and know exactly what you dropped when you cut the budget.
- Who supervises the site, and how often. Design and execution are different skills. Where they sit with different parties, the gap between them becomes your problem.
- Verifiable projects. Named projects with a location and a scope you can check beat a gallery of unlabelled images.
- A real address and a real phone number. A firm you can visit is a firm you can hold to account after handover.

1. Studio Archifiction
An architect-led architecture and interior design company in Dhaka, working since 2012 and led by Architect Kazi Mohammad Alam Kaiser, Institute of Architects Bangladesh member K-172. We put ourselves first because this is our list and home work is what we know best. The criteria above are the same ones we ask you to hold us to.
What we do for homes. Home and apartment interior design in Dhaka for flats from around 1,000 sft, duplex residences and full houses, and building design with RAJUK drawings when the project starts from a plot. Every project gets a measured layout before any 3D view, working drawings and an itemised BOQ before any price, and site supervision through handover. Wardrobes, kitchen cabinets, TV walls and storage walls are drawn to the room and built in our own workshop in Badda, not subcontracted, with two years of after-service support.
What it costs. Our working range for a full home interior, design and execution together, is BDT 1,500 to 3,000 per sft, verified September 2026, with a budget table by flat size in our apartment interior design guide. Design on its own is BDT 50 to 80 per sft, up to BDT 100 per sft for a complex scope. Best fit for: owners who want the plan resolved before execution starts, one accountable party from drawing to handover, and furniture that fits the wall it was drawn for. Not the right fit if you want a decorator to style a finished flat in a week.

2. Tanya Karim N. R. Khan & Associates (TKNRK)
An architecture practice in Dhanmondi, working since 1991 under Architect Tanya Karim and Architect Nurur Rahman Khan. The firm is known for contemporary architecture rather than decoration, and its portfolio runs from banks, offices and campuses to private residences and residential interiors, including the Tanvir Residence at Nikunja and the Sanchita Residence at Dhanmondi. This is the firm to look at when the home is a whole house or a duplex rather than a flat fit-out, and when the building and the interior should come from one hand.

What drives the cost of a home interior in Bangladesh
Our working range for a full home interior in Dhaka, design and execution together, is BDT 1,500 to 3,000 per sft, verified September 2026. On a 1,400 sft flat that is roughly BDT 21 to 42 lakh; the budget table by flat size is in our apartment interior design guide, and offices have their own execution band on the office interior cost page.
Any firm that gives you one number without asking about your flat is quoting a marketing number. Five things move a home interior budget more than floor area does.
- How much is built rather than bought. Wardrobes, kitchen cabinets, TV units and storage walls made to the room cost more than catalogue furniture and last longer. This is usually the largest line in a Dhaka flat.
- Kitchen specification. Board grade, hardware brand and countertop material can double the kitchen line on their own. Our guide to kitchen cabinet design in Bangladesh sets out the real price ranges and where the money goes.
- Ceiling and lighting scope. A flat false ceiling with a few downlights and a layered scheme on separate circuits are different projects.
- How much electrical work is reopened. Moving points in a finished flat means chasing walls, and that touches every finish around it.
- Timing. Design agreed before handover from the developer is cheaper than design after you have moved in. Our note on when to hire a designer in Dhaka explains why.
For a realistic first budget, send your floor plan and the rooms you want covered. A number produced against a defined scope is worth something. A rate per square foot quoted over the phone is not.
Questions to ask before you sign
- Who leads the design, and what is their qualification?
- Will I receive working drawings, furniture details, a ceiling plan and an electrical layout, or only 3D views?
- Is the quotation a BOQ with quantities and specifications, or a lump sum?
- Does the price include VAT and AIT? Does it include the design fee?
- Who supervises the site, how often, and who do I call when something is wrong?
- What is excluded? Ask specifically about air conditioning, loose furniture, appliances and electrical fittings.
- What happens after handover if a defect appears in the first six months?
- Can I speak to a client whose project completed more than a year ago?
That last question is the most useful one on the list, and the one firms are least prepared for. A project looks good on handover day. It tells you the truth eighteen months later.
Frequently asked questions
Which is the best interior design company in Bangladesh?
There is no single answer, and any list claiming one is selling something. The right firm depends on your project type, budget, how much you want documented before work starts, and how much supervision you need. Use the six criteria above to shortlist three firms, then ask all three the same questions.
How do I choose between a designer and a design-build contractor?
A designer gives you a plan and drawings, and you appoint the contractor. A design-build firm does both. Design-build is simpler to manage and gives you one party to hold responsible. A separate designer gives you independent oversight of the contractor’s work. Neither is better in principle. What matters is that supervision is explicitly somebody’s job.
Do interior design companies in Dhaka work outside Dhaka?
Many do, and travel and supervision frequency then become part of the scope and the price. Ask how often the site will be visited and who is present between visits.
How long does an apartment interior take in Dhaka?
Design usually takes two to three weeks for a standard flat. Execution depends on how much joinery is custom made, since furniture production runs in parallel with site work. Confirm both timelines separately before you agree a handover date.
Should I hire a designer before or after taking handover of my flat?
Before, wherever possible. Decisions about electrical points, plumbing and partitions are cheap on paper and expensive after the walls are finished.
What is the difference between an interior design firm and an interior company in Bangladesh?
In everyday use the two terms overlap, but they usually point to different business models. An interior design firm is led by architects or trained designers and sells the design itself: space planning, working drawings, furniture details, a BOQ and site supervision. You can appoint any contractor to build from those drawings. An interior company, or a decor company, usually sells execution: furniture, ceiling, paint and fittings, with design included as a sales step. Neither model is wrong. The question to ask is who is accountable for the drawings, and who is accountable for the site. When both sit with one party that has a registered architect on the team, you get the shortest line of responsibility.
